“Each morning, while walking my dog I greet people I know. The gesture of saying ‘hello” and waving a hand becomes an acknowledgment; an action that in its simplicity affirms a mutual existence. It signifies a feeling of conviviality. Something not always available on city streets. This morning ritual became the inspiration for this project; I imagined that as I was walking my dog I crossed paths with some of the enduring voices that appear in this publication.
Imagine you are strolling along and suddenly you bump into Jean-Paul Satre or Sinéad O’Connor, walking their dogs, and they are kind enough to share something they have been thinking about with you. The voice that says “hello” then becomes a brief sharing of an idea or a personal reflection! The book contains fifty two greetings from different people.”
The exhibition IN BETWEEN is based on photographs taken between 2009-2010 in Pécs when it was being transformed into a European Cultural Capital when I was a co-curator of the exhibition IN BETWEEN.”
