The starting point of the work is a continuously growing collection of self made photographs of the sides /‘registers’/ of dictionaries. The registers are code-like, schematic appearance of languages unified by common agreement filtered through a system called ‘ABC’ which leads us on our way in the journey of communication. These signs contain the whole vocabulary and the relation between certain languages. In this work the marks defined by the words, that are our primal mean of communication, turns into a soundscape, like an ever flowing wave of information stepped through the boundaries of grammatical or systematic limitation and the lines/signs change their meaning and they become notes in the score of a “Babelic” ambience.
János Iván Kárpáti is a media artist graduated in 2017 at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna in the Transmedia Art department (Prof. Mag. Art. Brigitte Kowanz). He is a senior member of the Studio of Young Artists’ Association (FKSE).
